To create a red brick effect, go over the stenciled area with a light coat of red. The stencil is held down by 2x4s. If the wall has been in white, the light grey is just great for the floor without making it too monotonous.

I used an off white color here for this tutorial. By applying an appropriate color stain to the entire surface before using a straightedge to paint on lines in a contrasting color, you can create a painted concrete floor with a brick effect. As always, best results will come from good preparation before your start painting! Let it set for a few hours before pulling off the tape.
